There are some Factory Sale moments that stay with us long after the doors close, and Heritage Day at Mo’s Crib will be one of them. When we invited Pretoria to come to our Heritage Factory Sale dressed in their heritage, we hoped to see a little colour and a few beautiful expressions of where people come from. What arrived at Castle Gate was something far more special, with customers walking through the doors in traditional clothing, beadwork, prints, headwraps and pieces filled with personal meaning, turning a day of shopping into a beautiful celebration of South Africa.

Pretoria, You Made Heritage Day Your Own

No two looks told quite the same story.

Throughout the day, we saw bold colour alongside intricate beadwork, traditional silhouettes alongside personal interpretations, and details that made us want to stop and take a closer look. Some people arrived with friends, some came as families and others brought the next generation along with them, creating moments that felt just as meaningful as they were beautiful.

That was perhaps our favourite part of the day. Heritage did not arrive at Castle Gate in one form. It arrived differently with every person who walked through our doors.

The Heritage Looks We Will Remember

We could talk about the colour all day.

Brilliant blues, reds, oranges, greens and yellows moved through a Factory Sale filled with the natural tones and textures of woven baskets. Beautiful beadwork appeared in necklaces, headpieces and accessories, while striking fabrics, prints and traditional garments brought even more character into the space.

But what made these looks memorable was not simply what people wore. It was the pride and joy with which they wore it.

There was something incredibly special about seeing customers browsing baskets, comparing pieces and enjoying the Factory Sale while dressed in clothing that carried a connection to family, culture, community or home.

When Basketry Meets Heritage

Celebrating Heritage Day surrounded by basketry felt especially fitting. Basket weaving carries knowledge from one pair of hands to another, with techniques, materials and skills continuing through generations. At Mo’s Crib, we are constantly reminded that the objects we bring into our homes can carry stories, and seeing our woven pieces surrounded by so many different expressions of South African heritage made that connection feel even more tangible. For one day, Castle Gate became a meeting place for colour, craft, culture and contemporary design. And it was our customers who brought that picture to life.

A Celebration Across Generations

One of the most touching sights from the day was seeing heritage shared between generations.

Parents arrived with children, families shopped together and people of different ages interpreted traditional dress in their own way. These moments reminded us that heritage is not something that simply belongs to the past. It continues when stories are told, traditions are shared, skills are taught and younger generations are given the opportunity to make those traditions part of their own lives. Sometimes that happens around a family table. Sometimes through language, food, music or craft. And sometimes it happens through what we choose to wear.

You Made Our Heritage Factory Sale More Special

Our Pretoria Heritage Factory Sale already represented an important first for Mo’s Crib. It was our first Pretoria Factory Sale outside of our warehouse and our biggest Factory Sale space yet, with more than 1,200m² at Castle Gate. But a big space alone does not create a memorable experience. People do.

To every person who took the time to choose an outfit, wrap a headscarf, put on their beadwork, dress their little one, share part of their culture with us or simply arrive ready to celebrate, thank you.

You did not just dress for the occasion. You became part of what made the occasion special.

The photographs we captured are filled with colour and beautiful clothing, but when we look back at them, what we will remember most is the joy. You helped turn our first Factory Sale at Castle Gate into something that felt deeply connected to the city and community around us.

Thank You for Making This One to Remember

Pretoria, thank you for embracing our invitation and bringing so much of yourselves to Heritage Day at Mo’s Crib.

Our first Factory Sale at Castle Gate will always hold an important place in the Mo’s Crib story, but the people who filled it are what gave those four days their character. Your support, your energy and the beautiful heritage looks you shared with us made this much more than a new Factory Sale location.

You gave us a Heritage Day we will remember.
